Kiyo Design is a retail fabric and fine sewing business in Maryland. We offer the finest fabrics from around the world for specialty sewing and embroidery. We provide supplies for those who have interest in fine sewing and embroidery including but not limited to: couture dressmaking, heirloom sewing, smocking, doll costuming, ecclesiastical embroidery, period and historic costuming, fine hand sewing, and model ship rigging. Kiyo Design has an extensive inventory of French laces, Swiss embroideries, exquisite ribbons, fabulous buttons, beads, and the finest needles and threads. In addition, we stock many pattern lines for childrens, dolls, and womens fashions as well as sewing books and magazines.
We are a retail,
mail order business. We are dedicated to providing you the best in
quality goods and services and to making sewing and the needlearts as wonderful
as they can be.
Kiyo is the Japanese name for gifted and talented.
Business Hours
Mail order:
You may place a mail
order at any time by phone, fax, e-mail, or mail. All orders are processed
and sent as soon as possible. Please refer to the "how to order" section below.
General SalesConditions:
1. All prices and shipping charges are subject to change without notice.
2. No minimum purchase amount but all purchases have a minimum shipping and handling charge of $3.00.
3. Fabrics, laces, Swiss embroideries, and ribbons are not cut in amounts less than 1/2 yard and can be increased by not less than 1/8 yard increments.
4. Dye lots can vary between bolts of fabric, ribbon, beads, etc. Please order sufficient materials to complete your project.
5. All sales of fabric, ribbons, laces, or cut merchandise are considered final unless damaged during shipping. (Refer to damage merchandise below). All sales of patterns, smocking, embroidery, quilting or needleart design plates are final.
6. We will make every
effort to carefully examine the merchandise and insure that the goods are
of the highest quality before we ship. If the merchandise is different that
the items ordered please call, fax, or e-mail us within 3 business days of
receipt.
Payment:
USA: We accept
payment by personal check (drawn on US banks only), or money order. Merchandise
will not be shipped until your check clears the bank. Therefore, expect a
7-10 day delay in shipping. If your check is returned, there will be a $25.00
handling fee. We do not do C.O.D. We accept Visa, Mastercard
or American Express. We do not add a surcharge for credit cards. Do not
send cash in the mail.
International:
Sales are by credit card only: Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
How to order:

About credit cards:
We do not keep credit card numbers on file. We do this for security
reasons. Therefore, you need to give us your credit card number and expiration
date each time your order.

Return calls:
If you have questions, and would a response by phone, Nancy will return calls
Monday-Fridays, between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm eastern time,
and Saturdays between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm eastern time.
Shipping method:
We will make very
effort to process your order as soon as possible. Custom and special orders
will take longer and we will advise you of the approximate delivery date.
If you order an item that is out of stock, we will advise you of the approximate
delivery time. This is known as a backordered item. If you choose not to accept
a backordered item please indicate this on the order form.

Charges:
Shipping and handling
charges are based on the total value of the merchandise before any discounts,
credits, or coupons have been applied. These charges are as follows:

Priority shipping is available upon request for CREDIT CARD purchases only. All services have a one pound minimum and price is determined by actual package weight and destination. An additional handling fee of $2.00 will be added to the following priority shipping charges:

air to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Credit cards only.
Canada and international
addresses including APO and FPO, please use a credit card or call for the
amount. We will ship the best way unless you specify U.S.P.S., Surface, airmail
or priority.
2. Priority Mail:
U.S. shipping only
Whenever possible,
and when the order weighs less than 5 pounds or is less than $300 we will
ship by priority mail. We will ship according to the current postal rates
at the time the merchandise is purchased. Priority shipping begins at $3.95
for the first pound.
Damaged Merchandise
In the event that
your order is damaged in shipping, please save the original packing materials
and call us at 1-410-280-1942 for further instructions. Please do not
attempt to repair or salvage the merchandise by cutting, washing, or any
other means.
Sale Items
If you order an item
that is on Sale at the store, you will receive the lower price.
Swatches
We offer swatch sets
for all of our fabrics and the prices are as indicated.
Quantity Purchases
Kiyo Design
will make arrangements for bulk quantity trade discounts as long
as proper business credentials can be provided to Kiyo Design
by the purchaser. Some volume discounts may be arranged for non-trade buyers
on a limited basis. You must call the store for details.

We are no longer
publishing our large catalogues. Current prices and availability will be
noted on our website: www.kiyoinc.com/fabric.html If you
do not have access to the internet, you can call or write the store for updated
information.
